- Course SummaryIn Humanities, we will explore the intellectual, spiritual and cultural achievements of human beings and the emergence of civilization. We will incorporate literature, drama, philosophy, politics, visual arts, music, sciences and technology to explore how early human beings learned to organize their lives and live together in communities. Using reading, writing and critical thinking skills, we will examine the contributions of past cultures to see what we can learn to live more fully and conscientiously in the 21st Century.
The 7th grade Humanities class incorporates both Social Studies and English / Language Arts in a manner that allows both disciplines to build upon and reinforce the other. The content and pedagogy of the class is designed to help students understand the connections among including geography, technology, art, social structures, civics and government, economics, education, and belief systems in the development of particular cultures.
